Man-made
waterfalls were developed thousands of years ago
by the Persian empire. One such development was
the famous Hanging
Gardens of Babylon (one of the Seven Wonders
of the World). The waterfalls of this garden was
supported by a complex construction of pumps to
create man-made waterfalls

Waterfalls
Custom
man-made waterfalls are usually started with a
blueprint of the plan. The exterior of the waterfall
is usually composed of man-made rock, composed
of Portland cement with lightweight aggregates,
color pigments and other additives that reduce
the cost of the project. The materials are cast
and compressed into a mold to give the natural
look of stone and enhance the beauty of the waterfall.
The pool itself contains a pump or a number of
pumps (depending on the size of the project) that
re-circulates the water from the lower pool to
the top creating a waterfall effect. The maintenance
of a man-made waterfall is not very expensive
to operate and can create a touch of elegance
to your home.

Added
Effects
Adding
lights to a waterfall can enhance the beauty of
it at night. Using a blend of color lights can create
a rainbow effect of colors to the waterfall and
surrounding area. Fish, especially koi fish are
popular in the pool of the waterfall. A filter can
be placed with the pump system to filter the water
of impurities. Surrounding a lush garden around
the man-made waterfall can enhance the look of the
landscape. Placing a waterfall with added effects
in the front or backyard will add a sense of serenity
and elegance to your home.
